GDTF Specification Proposal Accepted for Attributes to Control Aurora Polaris
'The most important argument made during the acceptance process was that the hues of both the Northern and Southern Lights fit harmoniously with the GDTF project marketing color theme,' writes the GDTF Technical Commeddee in their report. The report also explains that 'adding support for the Control Particle Wave Guide (CPWG) protocol will be only a light touch to GDTF, thanks to its extensibility.'

Below is the list of GDTF Attributes accepted for the control of Aurora Polaris, designed to add cosmic bells and whistles to the universe of entertainment lighting controls. While the proposal proudly supports both Aurora Borealis and Aurora Australis, a few critical voices have mentioned that non-Earthlings feel a bit left out. However, the real challenge seems to be that nobody can understand them. Happy April Fools’!
Attributes:
Cosmic Wind Speed
Control the “solar wind” that pushes the aurora across the sky. Dial in gentle breezes or raging cosmic storms for dramatic movement.
Magnetic Field Flux
Add a slider for adjusting the magnetic polarity that “charges” the aurora. A flip of the switch could “reverse the poles” for an out-of-this-world effect.
Quantum Color Entanglement
Rather than plain RGB mixing, use “quantum entangled” color channels that create unpredictable, ever-changing hues. Expect your fixture to decide its own palette sometimes!
Aurora “Mood Swing”
Incorporate a mood control knob that simulates the natural temperaments of the aurora—from shy, flickering glimmers to exuberant, full-on cosmic salsa.
Interstellar Feedback Loop
Enable a mode where the fixture “listens” to distant quasars. It dynamically remixes its digital soundtrack based on actual cosmic microwave background noise (or your party playlist, if you prefer a terrestrial vibe).
Hyperspace Dimmer
A “hyperspace” mode where light intensity phases in and out as if the fixture is traveling at warp speed through a nebula.
Celestial Animation Sequences
A library of pre-programmed “space odysseys” that mix swirling galaxies, meteor showers, and dancing black holes, guaranteed to outshine any standard gobo or strobe effect.
Gravity Well Groove
A control that simulates the pull of gravity—causing the aurora to “dance” in elliptical orbits, mimicking planetary motion in a solar system of its own.
Outer Space Calibration
A dedicated settings panel labeled “Not for Earthlings” to calibrate your fixture’s output as if it’s beaming signals into deep space.
